Are you a cat-lover? Do you live in Pretoria?
Do you have lots of love to give, a spare room, transport and the capacity to take needy cats and kittens into your home on a temporary basis?
Why not consider making a difference and fostering for CatzRus?
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What will it cost us financially?
A. CatzRUs asks foster families to cover the basic costs
of food and cat litter. All veterinary costs are covered by
our adoption fee and fund-raising efforts (we have a
network of vets who recognise the good work we do and
who offer their services to CatzRUs pro bono).
Q. What does fostering entail??
A. It's making yourself available to take needy kittens into
your home to raise them, love them and re-home them at
13 weeks. We use our WhatsApp group as the main
means of communication. You volunteer as you are able -
one litter at a time. You will need a heart for animals, a
spare room, transport for vet visits, a cat carrier and a
desire to make a difference.
Q. Will my own animals be compromised?
A. We recommend keeping kittens separate from family
pets until we can be sure they are healthy. Dogs are safe
from cat diseases, but we are cautious about mixing cats
before knowing how healthy they are. That being said,
most of our foster families have their own cats, and we've
learned lots about how to foster wisely, and will be glad to
share advice with you.
Q. How on earth do you give away those gorgeous
A. Regular viewing of KittenLady's videos is
recommended! Google "Kitten Lady Foster Fail". We
regularly remind one another that the goal of fostering is
Q. How will I know what to do?
A. We have a WhatsApp group with many experienced
foster moms. No question is too silly!
Q. What is the next step if I am interested in fostering?
A. Request our foster documents. Read them carefully.
