This challenging position requires the expertise of a qualified EE/AA Artisan with at least 5 years experience in fleet truck maintenance. A Code 14 and PDP licence as well as auto electrical knowledge is essential. Strong supervisory and communication skills are essential. Applicants must be prepared to work shifts and overtime. Duties and Responsibilities:
Expedite the department’s requisitions and equipment returns.
Ensure that all our trailer services are completed and comply with the standard requirements of the company.
Ensure that all maintenance requirements are completed according to standards and expectations.
Perform auto-electrical repairs as and when required.
Responsible for managing all tyre related duties e.g. stock take, tyre strip and fitments.
Ensure daily tyre checks are performed and the reports are completed.
Do tyre fitments to trucks & trailers on a daily basis.
Tyre collection/delivery received or collected by suppliers
Ensure pre-trip inspections are performed.
Ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to the Company standards.
Conduct quality checks for all vehicles/ trailers prior to release.
Perform tyre stock counts as and when required.
Perform equipment stock counts as and when required.
Ensure all administration is effectively prioritised with regard to maintenance of the fleet.
Ensure job cards are raised and requests are processed accordingly.
Responsible for requisitions of parts as required and verification of the parts delivered.
Manage, update and schedule wheel alignments.
Manage parts store (Stock, booking in, booking out, required etc.).
Ensure mechanical breakdowns are executed timeously.
Prepare trailers and vehicles for COF (brakes adjustments etc.).
Ensure all trailers and vehicles are roadworthy and comply with regulations of the Road Traffic Act.
Attend to breakdowns and ensure all repairs and duties are performed as requested.
Assist with the De-Fleeting of vehicles and trailers.
Draining diesel of vehicles or equipment if and when required.
Maintain a sound working relationship with all departments.
Ensure vehicles and trailers are sent in time for COF for license renewals.
Support and fully comply with Company and Departmental policies and procedures.
Conduct any other tasks given from the line manager or HOD
