This past weekend Spain won the 2010 FIFA World Cup when they beat the Netherlands in the final at Soccer City in Johannesburg. Germany beat Uruguay by 3 goals to 2 a day before the final in Port Elizabeth at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium to clinch 3rd place in the tournament. A few days ago we featured Paul the 'Psychic' Octopus in a blog post on the Junk Mail blog. He predicted that Spain would beat the German team in their 2010 FIFA World Cup semi-final. He was correct on that occasion. Germany lost by 1 goal to 0 against Spain in the match at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban and were knocked out of the tournament. Spain and the Netherlands to meet in 2010 FIFA World Cup final

It turns out that the Paul the Psychic octopus was right. Spain beat Germany for the first time ever in a FIFA World Cup match to advance to their first FIFA World Cup final in history. The match was played last night at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban. It was a very intense match. The German and Spanish teams did not give each other a lot of space for movement and there were minimal cracks in both sides' defensive lines. Since the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicked off on the 11th of June 2010 at Soccer City in Johannesburg it has been a wild rollercoaster ride consisting of world-class football in South Africa. 58 matches have been played in the tournament (at a rate of between 2 and 4 a day) since the tournament started. Today and Yesterday was set aside as rest days for players in teams that have made it into the quarter final stage of the tournament. Only 8 teams remain in the tournament (out of the initial 32). The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicked off at Soccer City on the outskirts of Johannesburg on the 11th of June 2010. The opening ceremony was world class and spectacular. The whole world watched as the first FIFA World Cup on African soil started. Bafana Bafana faced Mexico in the opening match of the tournament and the whole country were behind them.
