Carefully follow the instructions below and Junk Mail will attempt to read your mind and tell you your answer:
- Think of a number between 2 and 9
- Multiply the number by 9
- Add the two digits together
- Subtract 5 from the number you now have
- Convert the number into a letter - 1 = a, 2 = b, 3 = c, etc…
- Think of a European Country starting with that letter
- Now think of the second letter of that country
- Think of an animal that starts with that letter (This must be an animal – not a bird – so if you are thinking of an eagle think again!)
- What colour is your animal?
- Now concentrate carefully on your answers!
Check below to see if Junk Mail has read your mind…. comment on this post and let us know if this is the correct answer

Amazing! It was right – how the hell do you DO that!
Yep, it was spot on!
just wonder how you got it right. amazing!
Your site is always interesting, quiz was great well done
Too easy to understand: we know since school and being 6 years old that the sum of the digit of any multiple of 9 is 9. Then Denmark is the only european country starting with the letter D – Elephant is not the only animal but the first you think about…
What about Dublin? and Unicorn?
Every number will end up at 9 so all answers will be the same after the first 5 steps, but well done you fooled me.
Cheerio.
You were close, Denmark was right, the animal was an Eland and its colour is light brown
How the @#&! did you know that, LOL?
Heel goed. Had it on the spot
Omg !!! That was spot on !!! wow
How ???
Spot-on. Im very impressed.
Correct.
O my goodness!!! This was quite incredible. How do you do this or does everyone in the end think of grey elephants in Denmark! Thanks for the entertainment, it was quite special. Thanks also for your great service.
Country correct but not animal. Was thinking of an Emoe. BUT how did you manage that?! Exellent way to pass the time.
Thank you
What about an Orange Orangatang from the Dominican Republic?
Anyone that knows the 9 times table will easily be able to see how you got them to get a 4 leading to the letter D.
Nice try!!
The calculation always produces the result “4″, so the letter is always “d”.
There is only one European country starting with “D” = Denmark.
The second letter will always be “e”.
There are only two common animal names staring with “e” – elephant and eland so you have a 50% chance of getting it right.
The actual chance of a correct “read” will be higher since most people would think “elephant”.
no way!!!!!
Spot on
OMG !! I don’t know how it got this one, I don’t think there even are Elephants in Denmark !
Incorrect: A brown ape in Damascus. Was fun though.
100% spot on!
Black snake in Estonia
Wrong I was thinking of a grey Eland in Denmark……
This is scarry. Denmark and the colour grey is correct. But I used D iso E and my an animal was thus a donkey. SCARRY, SCARRY, SCARYY……….
nope – a brown eland in denmark!!
Why isn’t English on the preferred language list. I accessed this and I now have to speak Serbo Croate or some such language as there is no opt-out.
Still love your publication, though!
Denmark and Grey is right but the animal was wrong I was thinking of an Donkey.
Close my one was a Blue elephant but in Denmark , well done !!
Dat was spot on. . . Its obvious tho.. good general knowledge
Sorry, that mind reading was WAY out……
Nope – A grey raccoon in France:)
No – a Tan /Brown Eland
Wrong answer…not a grey elephant. My answer was a black rhino.
100% Correct
How the hell did you get this one right????!!!???
It didn’t work i thought of a brown eland in denmark
Yes, you did get my grey elephant in Denmark correct.
I love to get your e-mails….It just lifts my day !!!!! Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to you all!!
freaky !!
I thought of Democratic Republic of Congo – Grey Elephant still correct though.
I thought of Democratic Republic of Congo but Grey Elephant still correct answer.
HAHAHA! Brilliant!!! I nearly choked on my coffee…
I was not thinking of a grey elephant in Denmark,I was thinking of an orange tiger in Estonia
no it was the incorrect answer I was thinking of a brown eland
Nice one !!! Expected something like this as Denmark is the only European country beginning with D. Elephant would also seem a natural choice, but I chose Eland, just to be different.
Keep ‘em coming
Wrong:
My country was Dominican Republic , and animal Orangatan
Deon, it seems that Junk Mail have perfected the art of reading minds…
If you use the Google Translate function on this blog you can switch back to English by clicking on the “Show Original” link on the right top of the page
Prashani, we’ve done mind read experiments for a while now…
Nope. It was a brown dog in Denmark. One out of three. Not tooooo bad.
Good one 100%. how did the ppl get France they didnt didnt do it properly. by the way Dominican Republic is not in europe its in the Caribbean check google

Wrong, it was a Brown Donkey in Denmark!
Amazing! Grey elephant in Denmark
Hello Tanya
This is good, any Power Ball tips I’ll count you in.
Cheers
Bernie
Very clever!
The number is always a 4 and that would make the letter a D. Denmark is the only EUROPEAN COUNTRY which starts with a D. The second letter of the country has to be an E. Elephant is the logic choice largest animal in your mind. I worry about some maths calculations, this was a simple addition and subtraction maths quiz !!!! Re-do the math pls
Hello!
Very close but unfortunately no. I was thinking of a brown emu in Denmark.
Have a great day!
Ha good but i had brown Rat in France, four as my number
lol.. grade 5 9x tables… all any number in this multiple adds up to 9…
nice work around and story
I cannot believe it!!! Correct GREY ELEPHANT IN DENMARK – how is this done??? My word!!
awesome
hey dude
You r the only rat in france since all the numbers add to 9 and 9 subtract 5 is 4 and if you follow the alphabet then 4 is d.
Dude! I had ‘elk’…:-)
Sorry you did not catch me on the animal -
Answer Denmark
Answer: Eland
Answer: Brown
Sorry you did not catch me on the animal –
Answer Denmark
Answer: Eland
Answer: Brown
sorry i had a brown turtle in italy and my number was 4… Better luck next time!
I WAS thinking of an elephant in Denmark, BUT, it was not grey; it was BROWN!!!
how do you get a turtle and Italy with the number 4. Dozy
You know, I always play this game and I always expect to out smart it!!! everytime I’m proven wrong!!! this is really cool. The person who sat down and came up with this has one big brain on them!!!
this is amazing, everything i was thinking is correct. How you do that?
if your number was 4, the letter was D ur Dumbass, how the hell does your mind work if u cant even read correctly.
if your number was 4, the letter was D ur Dumbass, how the hell does your mind work if u cant even read correctly.
any number between 2-9 will come as same result 4. and count yourself how many countries start from “d” in Europe?and how many animals name could start from “e”? then color jumps out your mind already……
uhm, no!
not bad!
Denmark yes, (Correct me if I’m wrong, but Denmark is the only European country starting with “D” (the inevitable calculation already explained by an anonymous person) in the english language, excluding eg Duitsland (Germany in afrikaans))
And actually, I was thinking about an Eland… Or an Elk. Elephant would be too obvious. And the question is, if birds are excluded, are marine animals (eagle-ray, electric eel, etc) and reptiles (egg eater snake, Ensatina, etc) too? And scientific names (Equus caballus – horse)?
Hmmm, couldn’t help but throw a spanner in the works
Cool trick though!
I was infact thinking of a slimy earthworm…hahahahaha…in Denmark.
hahaha
Go back to school u fool !!!!!!
4×9=36, 3+6=9, 9-5=4, 4=d & its not ditaly . Better luck next time haha .
This trick worked from all aspects with me. I thought of an eagle and only after reading did I discover it may not be a bird. Yeah you always get 4 from the sum and Denmark is the most popular country not only in Europe, but for the whole world. Elephant is the most common animal that will come to mind, or maybe when you say E the first thing you think of is Eagle the next must be Elephant. You are not going to think of some difficult name, because you want to get the answer quickly. Unless you’re ignorant, heardheaded or just plain annoying. You shouldn’t be smart to get this trick working you must actually be an ordinary person who knows the color of an Elephant is not brown, but indeed grey.
Being Modest
very good. im impressed.
Uh . . . sure there is not a brown turtle in your brain . . . not in Italy
wrong…not a grey elephant in Denmark! a black Rhino in France.
Wrong answer.
Number would always work out to 4, which is letter D.
Denmark is not the only country starting with D.
I chose Dominican Republic. So animal would have to start with O e.g. Otter.
How on earth???????????? I am truly surprised. Don’t you want to help me with the Lotto?
nope was not correct.
yooooooooooooooh kwaai its da best
I was thinking of a grey Eel in Dubai……
WOW!
HOW THE HELL DID YOU KNOW WHAT I’M THINKING ABOUT?????????????
Marlene, Junk Mail can read minds, didn’t you know?
No, I was thinking of a brown rat in Greece….sounds like the compose of this riddle was thinking of pink elephants in Neverland…
VERY funny
Dead right. It is amazing how many people responding are quoting countries outside of Europe such as the DRC and Dominican Republic
Tssst!!!!!!!
Your answer is incorrect.
It did not work for “Elk”
Well done. Spot on. You got my first laugh of the day.
Wow you were spot on … a grey elephant in Denmark
The D was correct, followed by u for Dubai, nearest animal = Duiker brown.
Almost Successful!
Nope, purple elk but yes, in Denmark, but as pointed out it’s the only European country that starts with D which is always the letter you come to from the maths part.
Seriously, people picked Dominican Republic (not in Europe) and DUBLIN?!!! That’s a city. The capital city of Ireland.
Maybe a geography lesson should be next!
You can guess my name as well seen that you are so good.
I don’t know how you could be so clever but that is very good.
Brown Elk in Deutchland You Got Country in Scandinavia
Should all know their tables everything mutiplied by 9 and minus 5 would give you 4! This a Country with a D would be easy if you knew your Geography. Sorry mind reader, good try though
Spot on
Cool! that was fun! and it worked! : )
Brown elk in Denmark
This was really very good. I had a grey elephant in Denmark
I had “bruin eland” in Denmark.
Denmark because it was the first name for a “D” that sprang to mind, and then on second thought I realised it is not in Europe. It is Scandinavian, but kept the name because Deutschland was then my choice and the first 2 letter is the same. And of course “eland”, I think, is not an english name but stuck to it becaise I am a Boertjie.
It is all fun though to advertise your wares.
It was actually a racoon in france
It was 100% correct, even the country! Ama-zing!!!
I was thinking of a ewe, which is a female sheep – you get a ram (male) and a ewe (female) and the colour is
off-white. A “maiden” ewe has not had a lamb and an “open” ewe has had a lamb.
So I outsmarted Junk Mail ……… and I’m a blonde !!!
Your answer was correct…that’s freaky!!!
I was thinking of a female sheep called a ewe, which is off-white in colour. You get a “maiden” ewe (has not had a lamb)
and a “open” ewe (has had a lamb). The male is a ram.
Wow, I outsmarted Junk Mail and I’m blond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really good!!! I was thinking of an eland in Denmark. I’m Afrikaans and English is my second language. It gave me a smile when I read the part that “eagle” couldn’t be used as animal. So I realised that all the aswers will end up in a D and the only country will be Denmark..and, and and
Very good
Ha ha, I had a PINK ELEPHANT
Very clever & interesting – I king ofcouldn’t believe it was the elephant I was thinking of
Hello!
No, you were not quite right. It was a brown deer in Denmark.
Nope, i was thinking of a “brown elk” in denmark or even an “orange ewe” after she had a roll in the mud!
I was thinking of a beige eland in Denmark. Nice try.
Orange Orangatang in the Dominican Republic
correct how did u get that right?
Wow! Incredible! How did you do that?
Incorrect, I was thinking of a white unicorn in Dublin
Wrong, I was thinking of a brown elephant
BROWN ELK in Denmark
I thought of Dublin (which is part of the EU) and there is no animal I can think of that starts with U???? While doing that calculation you will always come up with the number 4 no matter what number you started off with.
Wrong answer, I was thinking of a Brown elephant in Denmark. But keep trying!!
Dublin is not a country
We were thinking of a sand-coloured Eland in Denmark, but you were pretty close-ha ha!
I don’t think this works on people trying to be clever. Here I am referring to people that did not get Denmark as the country. Orange orangatang from the Dominican Republic? How did you get this answer? O yes, you started off with not knowing Europe. Do you even know where Europe is? You certainly don’t know where the Dominican Republic is. You are an orange orangatang, but probably not as clever.
Sjoe that was freaky, but junkmail was correct.
thanks for keeping us busy, HAHA
well done…. that’s really amazing….
Hi
I was thinking brown/black unicorn in Dublin?????
No I was thinking of a grey rat in France!! weird. Well looks like my mind is not readable haha
Hi, saw this before, but still good. In English there is only 1 country in Europe that starts with D and only 1 animal that starts with E. The people that replied Eland - Antilope is the English for Eland, which is Afrikaans.
Good! Good!
You are spot on. How did you get this!
Nahh, Dallas and Aligator. Thanks for trying. HA HA HA. LOL!!!
NO. NO. NO NOT EVEN CLOES TO MY PREDICTION
MY ANSWER WAS A WHITE MOUSE IN AMSTERDAM
NR : 3
MULTIPLY WITH 9 : 27
COUNT THE 2 TOGETHER : 2+7= 9
SUBTRACT 5 = 4
TAKE LETTER INTO NR. 1A, 2B ETC…
1A= AMSTERDAM
EUROPEAN COUNTRY= AMSTERDAM
2ND LETTER IS = M
ANIMAL = MOUSE
COLOUR = WHITE
My animal was an brown Eland but Denmark was my country
oh yeah, good 1 ~:o)
WRONG……….. WHITE MOUSE IN AMSTERDAM
You got it wrong!
Excellent…. Exactly the answer I came up with. xx
Not even close … sorry!!
You’re an idiot if u read correctly the number 4 is actuall the alphebet ” D ” and thats what u suppose to use not A cause 9-5 does not equal 1 you idiot. or maybe u dont understand English.
y did u use 1A if ur number in da end was 4?
not so clever , because everyone’s answer , when they add the two digits together , will always be nine!!!!
hummmm .. colour is right ,, but they animal is wronge ..
i was thinking rino.. but intresting
You were right.
There is an animal called an Elk and this is its English name so now we have to animals that start with an E in English
Nope I was thinking of a grey rat in France. Well at least you had the color right!
Sorry that is not what i was thinking of
Absolutely spot on
Actually I was thinking of a Aye-Aye in Dardanelles. But it was great fun.
If the Answer was 4 then your alpha no should have been D…
So wrong.. brown rinkhals from france
sorry dude I was thinking of an Ewe not an elephant but the country you got right
Right. Very good!
So reg soos ‘n roer
Wrong im thinking of a white rabbit in Australia
